Machinist Class A

Position Summary:
Sets up and operates Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, manual machines, and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the position’s essential functions and responsibilities. Trains other employees on the setup and operation of machines as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Selects, aligns, and secures fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
• Calculates and sets control to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Works with engineering to analyze problems for best solutions.
• Mentors and teaches employees with lesser capabilities at any point in production.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
• Capable of setup and running of CNC or manual machines, both horizontal and vertical.
• Self-sufficient in all areas of machining and production.
• Able to machine complex parts.
• Able to use height gages, calipers, micrometers, gage pins, thread gages, and optical comparators.
• Has troubleshooting skills.
• Expertise in reading and interpretation of blueprints and specifications.
• Observes and listens to operating equipment to diagnose cutting efficiency or malfunctions.
• Knowledge of mathematics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry preferred.
• Expertise in work holding devices. Design and build as needed, including cause and effects.
• Expertise in deburring and finishing techniques.
• Expert knowledge of tapping, threading, and thread forms.
• Experienced knowledge of materials, including cutting speed and feeds.
• Able to plans and execute the sequence of events from start to finish to produce a part.

 

Quality Documentation Assistant

Position Summary:
Creates inspection documentation and compiles documents needed per customer requirements to create final data packs / reports to be distributed for customer final document review at CSI in customer portals / sites for final review and acceptance of product. Collects and maintains data for DMR’s, ICAR’s, SCAR’s, etc… Supports Quality Management System (QMS) documentation as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Creates inspection documentation and AS9102 reports using Discus Software
• Organizes Material Certification, Test Data and other information in the Sales Order Files.
• Archives data, records, and reports as required.
• Inputs data from Discrepant Material Reports and Daily Inspector’s Logs.
• Organizes, collates and reproduces certifications and data for Customer Data Reports.
• Originates Corrective Action Requests (ICARS and SCARS), maintains their respective logs and ensures their timely return.
• Reviews Bills of Materials as directed by the Quality Manager to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Copies, files and updates Welder’s Process Sheets and their continuity logs.
• Generates and distributes DD 250s, WAWF, etc. (Government Inspection and Receiving Reports).
• Collates and reproduces the data for the quarterly Management Reviews.
• Performs other general tasks as needed and defined by the Quality Manager.
• Receptionist/Switchboard Coverage as needed
• Supports QMS documentation as needed.

• Ability to interpret contractual requirements and ensure requirements are met.
• Strong computer skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc… Knowledge of Discus is desirable.

 

Gage Calibration Technician

Position Summary:

Organizes and maintains the gage calibration system to ensure all gages used at GSM are current and in calibration. Compiles reports from data obtained from Quality department as required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Organizes all GSM’s measurement equipment and ensure they are entered into the gage calibration system.
• Maintains the gage calibration system to ensure all measurement equipment is calibrated on time and properly entered in to the calibration system.
• Enter and maintain other tracking activities (approved suppliers, employee certs / testing, etc…) as assigned and ensure dates do not go past due.
• Collect and coordinate shipment of all gages being sent for calibration.
• Compiles data, as assigned from Quality Leadership produces reports and spreadsheets as required.
• Verifies information of calibration certs and data for completeness and accuracy.
• Calibrate in-house gages such as calipers, micrometers, etc, following internal
• procedures.
• Measure gages to verify functionality after use.
• Uses computer or other recording device to duplicate information for filling or distribution.

Inspector Class A – First Shift

Position Summary:
Reads and interprets work instructions and blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances. Must also know how to interpret Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance. Measures, inspects, tests and verifies machined, welded and finished parts for conformance to specifications. Must be able to work independently without supervision. Manually operates CMM’s, height gages, comparator, etc… Provide support for quality projects dictated by the Quality Leadership. Complete other duties assigned by Quality Leadership. Must have the ability to work as team player in a group or team environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Support First Piece, In-Process, Final, and F.A.I. Inspections.
• Reads blueprints or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Verifies specified dimensions of product or raw material using verniers, micrometers, intramics, CMM, height gages, comparator, scales and or/other tools.
• Measures angular dimensions, radii, contours, clearances, thread lead, and other specifications.
• Computes angles, radii, and other unspecified dimensions of work piece by using sine bars.
• Measures surface finish of parts. Inspects first run parts and assemblies.
• Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
• Tests units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.
• Tests parts for hardness.
• Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
• Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
• Writes reports regarding inspection and testing results.
• Examines defective parts to determine cause of defects and recommends changes or modifications.
• Ability to manually operate and set up Mitutoyo CMM’s,
• Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.
• Support inspection duties, quality objectives, and the Quality Management System.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Must be flexible enough to work in all areas of operation per the direction of the Leadership.

• Facilitate effective communications and working relationships (including answering department phone).

• Two-year certification from college or technical school; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced knowledge of inspection, plating & coating processes and raw materials a plus.
• A personal and professional background sufficient to secure a Government Security Clearance is required.

 

Senior Mechanical Assembler Class B

Position Summary:
Partially or completely assembles Electro/Mechanical products such as handling devices, robotics, and mechanical assemblies while working at a bench or on the shop floor. Leads and coordinates activities of workers engaged in assembling parts or assemblies into units.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, sketches, and written instructions.
• Uses assembly drawings and process sheets to assemble products.
• Performs basic quality assurance functions to ensure sub-assemblies meet specifications.
• Uses basic hand and power tools.
• Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners as required by drawing specifications.
• Operates drill presses, arbor presses, or various other machines to assist in assembly operation.
• Recognizes potential quality deficiencies in assemblies and notifies the engineering department of such concerns.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
• Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors.

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches and written instructions. Must have the ability to build to assembly drawings and follow process sheets.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five or more year’s related mechanical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Group leader or lead mechanical assembler experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things. Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 

Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:
Maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. Responsible for performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, etc.). Performs general cleaning. May provide some direction to other employees.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
• Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
• Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
• Reconfigures, installs, positions, and mounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
• Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
• Manages staff that cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Changes faulty motors, compressors, coil units, expansion valves and other constituent parts.
• Inspects distribution components for suitable volume, pressure, temperature, and velocity.
• May manage the maintenance staff through delegation, policy and procedure administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing and follow-up of the work assignment.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and materials handling equipment in performing duties.
• Coordinates subcontract of routine servicing of equipment as part of measures to prevent breakdowns and malfunctions, which could thwart production activities
• Keeps record of maintenance activities to track the lifespan of equipment.
• Assists with the install of new equipment, utilizing the knowledge of machine operation in choosing good quality machines for purchase; test machines to determine their durability; return low performing machines in exchange for better ones whenever necessary.
• Responsible for the management of maintenance systems associated with high performing manufacturing organizations (Root Cause Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, etc.) while focusing on maximum plant capacity, while minimizing cost.
• Assigns proper scheduling of work to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reduction in unscheduled downtime while lowering costs and creating higher plant efficiency.
• Maintains outside building maintenance.
• Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; Problems are addressed immediately and corrected as soon as possible, followed-up to ensure the situation has been addressed/resolved, and shared with the supervisor to learn from experiences.

• State of New Hampshire electrician’s license is preferred.
• Proficient in electro mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
• Experienced in PLC controllers and process instrumentation.
• Self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed general written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

VMC Mill Machinist

Summary:
Sets up, operate, edit and program Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
* Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
* Selects, aligns, and secures fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
* Calculates and sets control to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

Large CNC Horizontal Boring Mill Machinist

Summary:
Set up and operate Horizontal Boring Mills. Must be proficient in G code programming, tooling and fixturing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Able to read blueprints, drawings and work from sketches.
* Set up tooling and fixturing.
* Conduct 1st piece inspection and make offset changes as needed.
* Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
* Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
* Must be flexible enough to work in all areas of operation per the direction of the Supervisor.
* Knowledge of speeds and feeds in materials such as stainless steel and monel is a plus.
* Experience with large fabrications a plus.
* Must have experience with over head cranes.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and combination of three years related experience and/or training.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
